The ‘real’ work is done outside the counseling office. But inside the office, when you step into vulnerability, we can co-create a space where goals are explored, identified, and met.

Kristel Strother, M.A., LPCC
Owner at 413 | Counseling

Kristel Strother is the founder and owner of 413 | Counseling, where she combines a deep passion for helping others with extensive experience in the mental health field. She holds a dual bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice from the University of Colorado Denver and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. This diverse educational background allows her to offer a well-rounded perspective when working with individuals, couples, and families.

A brief job in community corrections gave her the opportunity to explore and assist individuals in understanding the root causes of their behaviors, processing their emotions, and making better choices. This experience, coupled with her innate desire to help others, naturally led her to a career in mental health counseling. She specializes in creating safe, supportive environments where clients can explore their feelings, identify their needs, and achieve personal growth.

Born in Holland with Dutch, Jewish, and Indonesian heritage on her mother’s side and Indian roots on her father’s side, she was exposed to diverse cultural perspectives from a young age. This multicultural upbringing influences her approach to therapy, emphasizing the importance of understanding family history and its impact on mental health. A genuine curiosity about people’s stories allows her to deeply connect with clients and assist them in navigating the complexities of their past to foster healing and growth.

Balancing personal, professional, and family life is central to overall well-being. She is committed to helping clients reclaim intimacy and connection within their marriages, strengthen family dynamics, and enhance their individual mental health. Outside of her practice, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two adult children, a teenager, and their “so ugly he’s adorable” little dog. In her downtime, you’ll find her binge-watching sci-fi, crime dramas, or any of her other guilty pleasures.

With a dedication to empowering individuals to achieve greater emotional balance, self-awareness, and healing, she helps clients unlock their potential through one-on-one therapy, couples counseling, and family therapy—guiding them toward more fulfilling, connected lives.
